Outsourcing…locally

March 4th, 2010

RedPost is now starting to sell LCD mounts designed and manufactured locally by MOR/ryde (check out their product line here), who builds several components we use, including our custom-designed Sign/Post. These are great mounts — rock solid, high quality, much better than a lot of the cheap crap coming out of China nowadays. Here’s a [...]

Firefox 3.6: Macs no longer second-class RedPost citizens

January 21st, 2010

Today, Firefox 3.6 came out. And with it…functional full screen mode for the Mac! That means you can now run RedPost on a Mac Mini without having an annoying toolbar at the top of the screen like there’s been up until now. Sweet! No more second-class citizenship for DIY RedPost/Mac users. Isn’t equality grand?
We’ve updated [...]

RedPost/WPB on MediaPost

December 24th, 2009

I’ve been reading several of MediaPost’s e-newsletters for about a year and a half now, my favorite being their Online Media Daily – Section 2, and to my surprise this just popped into my inbox, courtesy of Google Alerts:
Two of the sweet spots for digital out-of-home advertising are convenience and distraction — using technology to [...]

RedPost: Does it work?

December 8th, 2009

A woman walked into BetterWorld Books yesterday as I was standing by the counter. Another customer was at the register so the woman looked at the RedPost/Sign on display by the register. Then, when the register opened up, she said, “Oh, I was going to ask about book recycling but I just saw the answer [...]

Two more locations are up now, the first is Myopic Books on Milwaukee Ave and the second is The Silver Room, also on Milwaukee. Another 2 are in the works.

RedPost/WPB part III

September 11th, 2009

I’ve been on the road to NYC for a wedding this weekend (congrats @santhonys) so I haven’t been able to post the rest of the pics from our WPB install this week. Here they are, at Gallery Cafe, Feast, Goddess & Grocer, W Crossing, Wow & Zen, and De Luca Caffe, respectively.

RedPost/WPB part II

Yesterday we installed the first screen, at Red Hen Bread on Milwaukee Ave. Check out WPB’s Flickr photos for a peak into the installation process. Here are two of my photos:

RedPost/WPB part I

September 8th, 2009

Today begins installation of our first big-city RedPost installation in the Wicker Park Bucktown neighborhood in Chicago. It’s been over 2 years in the works. Some pics before we hit the road:

Our nice KIA rental, 28 MPG!

Smaller than I thought a “midsize SUV” would be.

Too bad that’s our old logo…

And I thought I couldn’t fit [...]

Elkhart County: We Make Things Here

August 13th, 2009

I just got out of a meeting with one of our suppliers, MOR/Ryde, located in nearby Elkhart. MOR/ryde manufactured our original RedPost/Kit and now makes pieces of our RedPost/Sign (the backplate and powder-coats the frames) and our Sign/Post. It’s been awhile since I’ve stopped by, as orders have been slow the past year, but I’m [...]

RedPost in the Wild: Purdue University

August 6th, 2009

Purdue Calumet’s School of Technology (in Hammond, Ind.) is testing one of our 19″ RedPost/Signs with plans, if it works well, to buy more outside their new Mechatronics Engineering Technology laboratory in the Potter Building. They already have several other digital signs around campus running a different digital sign company’s software (gasp!). But they like [...]
