Trade show circuit, part IV

July 6th, 2009

This Sign, sponsored by RedPost at the Mennonite Church USA conference which wrapped up yesterday in Columbus, OH, was located outside the mPress office where they published a daily conference newspaper. They used the Sign to display the headlines for that day and attract the attention of passers-by. Here are some photos and a couple [...]

RedPost Upgrades, Digital Signs Rejoice

March 17th, 2009

After a delay of about 24 hours and a bit of pain, including the loss of 4 users’ updates from a 24 hour period, we finished deploying the freshest, mature-ist, rosiest, (cheekiest?) version of RedPost yet this morning around 4 am, recorded for posterity by a well-deserved tweet.
Improvements/Bug fixes:

under-the-hood overhaul: much like rebuilding a car’s [...]

Goodbye Corktop

January 15th, 2009

This week, we started the phase-out of the Corktop name by removing the big logo from the nav bar of our app. Short-lived as it was (first launched Sept 7 2007), we’ll miss it. But not that much. We decided that building a Corktop brand was confusing, when everything is and should be simply branded [...]

Video Coming…

October 15th, 2008

…this Friday…can you wait that long????

Video is close…

October 7th, 2008

This is Isaiah’s desk. He’s been knee deep in video codecs, compilers, VLC source code, caches and JavaScript quirks for the past several weeks hammering out the bugs left in our video implementation. But as you can see, it’s getting close:

New & Improved: Flash, at last! [updated x2]

August 18th, 2008

Two updates from last week:

Invitations/members are now merged (under the Supervise tab) — not sure why these were ever separate
At long last, Corktop now has built-in Flash support***

***BIG CAVEAT: Wicker, our customized version of Ubuntu that runs on every Sign, does NOT have Flash pre-installed. Adobe has a licensing agreement with Flash that states:
Distributor shall [...]

New & Improved: Tweaks + Rails 2.1

August 14th, 2008

So…our server went down again today, we think due to our IT company (who set it up how its set up) changing things that they had set up to not work. They sent us an email complaining about how everything was set up. Uh. Yeah. Everything that THEY set up. Anyways, we’re switching away from [...]

18 months later…the backstory

July 31st, 2008

Before I even legally formed RedPost in Feb ‘07, waaaay back in Nov ‘06, I began looking for hardware that fit what I saw as a huge opportunity in the marketplace. All I wanted was a simple, 19-20″ LCD with a built-in PC for under $1,000.
I ended up piecing one together with an old laptop [...]

RedPost beats Basecamp to the color picker punch

July 23rd, 2008

Kyle posted on the excellent 37signals blog today about Basecamp’s new color picker…he says:
“We think it’s solid and it’s the best color picker we’ve used on any web application.
Clearly, Kyle hasn’t used RedPost’s color picker (designed by Jon, can be found in the Promote tab under Settings):

Ours has the option to switch from “Advanced” to [...]

New and Improved: $960 billing error NOT in your favor

June 27th, 2008

New features:

poster scheduling: in testing, not fully deployed yet…but its coming next week, along with full time zone support
our website favicon is transparent correctly…this really bugged me

New poster types:

Designer: simplified, works a lot better (except in IE because of a TinyMCE bug). What we’d like to do: provide a simple tool that allows you to [...]
