So much to do!

May 6th, 2010

Spring is here and the annual uptick in ads on RedPost is here as well. So much to do, so little time! Here’s some highlights from Goshen: And, of course, our newest network in Wicker Park Bucktown also has lots going on: That’s a lot of nice looking, well-designed posters, although several are quite wordy. [...]

RedPost/Goshen: Spring is here!

March 22nd, 2010

Every year, we see a big uptick in ads posted on our 12-Sign community advertising network around Goshen. This spring is no different — in Jan/Feb, we average around 5-7 posters at time. Right now, we’re up to 12 with more scheduled and waiting. A couple I’d like to point out: I’m on a panel [...]

Make jobs not war

February 13th, 2010

I wrote an op-ed piece that I sent out to the local papers. Check it out here. My favorite paragraph is #3 — I could write a dissertation on my feelings about the corruption of the political system, from the local level on up. But as the saying goes, democracy is the worst form of [...]

Donate books…on the go!

February 12th, 2010

There’s now a nice, shiny, new book donation drop-off bin right outside RedPost’s production facility here in Goshen. Donations go to BetterWorld Books, a for-profit social enterprise with proceeds going to local, national and international literacy efforts all over the world. Check it out:

Smuckers in the Rio Grande Valley

February 10th, 2010

Although I won’t be joining my family this year (I was there last year), my grandparents have once again traveled to McAllen, Texas, joined by various aunts, uncles and cousins, to build houses with Proyecto Azteca. The local news picked up on the story, check out the TV coverage and this article: Like modern-day heroes [...]

Move Your Money

February 9th, 2010

There’s a big campaign going on right now to “Move Your Money” from the huge national banks to local/regional banks, the logic being that the big guys caused the financial crisis and, if we take our money out off their balance sheets, they’ll be forced to change their ways. You’ll also, on average, get better [...]

Haiti

January 14th, 2010

As you’re probably aware, there was a major earthquake in Haiti. I was in the country for a couple days back in 2005, and walked around the square in front of the Presidential Palace (the triangular green area the top of the photo, photo from GeoEye): So for me, one of the most shocking images, [...]

Cityonthego.org

October 26th, 2009

This summer, RedPost developed a Ruby on Rails website for Downtown Goshen. We just went live last week — you can check it out here. A good start, but like all Rails apps, lots of room to grow! Some of the features of the website: lists detailed information on over 14 events held in downtown [...]

RedPost’s outdoor excursion

September 3rd, 2009

Installed today in Downtown Goshen is our first outdoor RedPost-driven digital sign. It’s a 32″ Jensen Marine display in a custom-built wood kiosk, built by Dave Pottinger, pictured here. The computer’s located inside the neighboring building and delivers a VGA signal to the LCD. Oh, we’ll also be turning the kiosk so the LCD isn’t [...]

RedPost/Recycle Update

September 1st, 2009

All of this: Used to be in here: We’re doing a trial run with ADEC, a local non-profit who’s mission is “Enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.” ADEC disassembles the electronics at their facility in Elkhart; they recently received a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation to do so. After the trial run, we’ll see [...]
