Hi Eric,

Nice post! Thank you for writing about these issues, in particular for highlighting the pay-to-play issues. I was thinking about this and was going to leave a reply here that would have been even longer than your article. So rather than take up space here, we just posted an article about all of these issues on our site called: "Grabbing the Digital Signage 'Bull' By The Horns." We referenced your blog post in our article.

Best,

Lionel

Thanks Nate, I'm a little wary ranting so much in a public forum, but you're right, it did make me feel better :-) Although I've already pissed off at least one person, which I feel bad about. And I agree, a complete separation of fluff from reality is impossible -- press releases by their very nature make it difficult. But it really is ridiculous in the DS sector sometimes, much more so than it should be.

Quite the rant, but a great read. I've contemplated the idea of writing a similar post and actually wrote one once which, in and of itself was therapeutic. It is difficult to separate ourselves from the livelihood that everyone is trying to create in the digital signage world. Your product has something to shine with, which is why I have frequented your site for a couple of years now. The thing that chaps my hide the absolute worst is the fact that even those waiving the flag of "unbaisedness" are still basing their livelihood on all this "digital signage" stuff. While I do agree with the a separation of fluff from reality--a complete departure is nearly impossible. But I'm sure it sure felt good writing this post :) And you'll garner some good traffic from it, I'm sure.
