Lease no more…
I could blame the economy, the credit crunch, the freezing rain last night, the volatile Dow, my entrepreneurial announce-before-you-know-every-last-detail marketing method or any other number of things…but ultimately what we announced we won’t be able to do. I’m talking about our $59/month for 24 months leasing program. It’s just not possible right now. Hopefully in the future. But not right now.
I feel bad in situations like this, like I lied or stole candy from 7/11. But not everything works out as I’d like (unfortunately for my ego). Me and my ego apologize.
Our goal with this leasing program was to wrap software/hardware into one and make digital signage “like a cell phone, not a car payment” as our previous press release said. The thing is, one of our Signs cost about the same (a little less actually) as an iPhone when it’s not subsidized and the monthly fee is definitely less. Here are the numbers:
8GB iPhone from AT&T with 2 year contract
purchase: $199
data over 2 yrs: $720
txt (1,500/mo) over 2 yrs: $360
minimum calling plan over 2 years ($39/mo): $936
TOTAL: $2,215
RedPost/Sign over 2 years
initial purchase: $699
RedPost software for 2 years: $360
TOTAL: $1,059
2008 Honda Fit (just to be ridiculous)
Down payment: $0
Lease payment for 2 years: $6,720
TOTAL: $6,720
So, it follows that:
2 RedPost/Signs = 1 iPhone
6 RedPost/Sign = 1 Honda Fit
Anyways, a nice leasing program will happen at some point, just not now.
