Bently Reserve: Reflections

sf-goshen.pngA couple thoughts I’ve had since returning to 32° weather in Goshen (although it’s actually forecast to be warmer here than in San Francisco this coming week):

  • It’s cold in the office when the heat’s turned off because it was warm here Friday and someone turned it off. Brrr.
  • RedPost is definitely onto something: If we can make a splash in San Francisco, then something about what we’re doing is unique and stands out.
  • Being in the premiere event venue in downtown San Francisco can only help us out. It’s kinda like celebrities using new tech gadgets — it tends to lend credibility and popularize technology much faster than if we were, say, in 10 of the premiere locations around downtown Goshen, which, by the way, we are.
  • We’ve got a long way to go with our software: sometimes I think our software is awesome — then I use it in a slightly different way than I thought about before and it gets clunky. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great start, but we’ve got lots of good design work to do.
  • I bought my 2,000 square foot house with big yard (that doesn’t get mowed enough) and attached
garage for $73,000. I’ll put in about another $25,000 over the first 5 years I own it, probably a bit less, but for argument’s sake, that’s a $100,000 house. In San Francisco, I’d spend that in 4-5 years in rent alone. Geez.
  • Yep, If your mortgage is the same as my rent, I'd pay that off in under 5 years... it brings tears to my eyes. It's a trade off to live in the epicenter of tech, surrounded by beautiful little microclimates of culture. My only argument is that we are idiots for paying so much to live on a fault line:).

My old man moved to Arizona, and the housing is similar to your pricing- and they get to carry firearms everywhere, bonus!
