New and improved: Ready to Go
I didn’t post last Friday in our ongoing New and Improved series as some of the new and some of the improved turned into not very improved and not very nice, even if new. But now it’s all ready to go:
- Transition to our new, faster server is complete. Everything’s much faster. And we’re now using Mongrel better than we were before.
- Store: Our online store is actually part of our software app. It’s up and running and ready for orders. Much, much better than the previous OSCommerce RedPost/Store — although that can be a powerful solution, it was too much for our needs.
- Wicker: It’s ready to go as well. You’ll be able to download the early version either this evening yet or tomorrow.
- 5 minute config: this is really sweet. It’s a web-based config process that you run through when you first plug in your Sign. We’ll have a demo online sometime in the next couple weeks, before then, you’ll either have to take my word for it or buy a Sign to experience it.
- New features: we’re through the design phase for 2 new Corktop features: a new, advanced playlist mode and a much improved Designer

You may have noticed some references to the Obama campaign’s “Fired Up, Ready to Go” slogan, that was started in South Carolina by Edith Childs and has become one of the main rallying crys of his campaign. Well, the reason I’m referencing it is because the Goshen for Obama campaign headquarters, which happens to be located in the front of our building, has its grand opening this evening, in about 52 minutes. Needless to say, it’s been a sort of zoo around here the past week.
The Indiana voter registration deadline is April 7. Hillary’s polling 2-6 points ahead right now, depending who you ask. We’re in the 3rd district which has a decent chance of swinging to Obama, but it’s an uphill battle. Here’s a photo:
