Comcast: “We can’t compete”

hs-angelakis.jpgFrom the mouth of Comcast’s CFO, Michael Angelakis (pictured), talking about Comcast’s lowered growth expectations for 2008:

We will fight in the streets and do everything we can for retention but I think the expectation that I have is we will lose some share in the video side.

My paraphrase of his words:

We were fine without all this pesky competition, but now that the likes of Verizon, AT&T and Dish network offer better, cheaper alternatives to our over-priced, poorly served customers, they’re leaving us in droves. And we can’t figure out how to improve our services or lower our prices in order to keep them. In fact, we’re going to keep increasing prices to try to offset the lost customers.

I’ve been a Comcast customer for about 6 years now. I have no other choice other than satellite, which doesn’t have good Internet service, so I have no other choice. Every January they raise their rates about 5%. Too bad they’re loosing customers. Too bad.
