Purdue University Job Fair

purdue.pngI’m at a Purdue University High Tech Job Fair today. I hate the term “High Tech,” it’s meaningless and implies computers to most people. “High Tech” is a process, not a product. I didn’t know what to expect — I’ve never been to something like this, but I’ve got about 18 resumes so far, which is a lot more than I expected (or didn’t expect). I think I’m the only one wearing jeans here. My advice to students — warm your hands up so that when you shake my hand I don’t catch a cold, about half the students have had icy hands.

I hung out in Downtown Lafayette last night too — it’s a cool city, much bigger than I thought. It has a great vibe to it too, you feel like things are actually happening here. Although, I do have a certain distaste for university towns as usually all they care about is the university, but I shouldn’t judge too much, being that I’ll be here less than 24 hours.

  • That was me! ... And I still think that way! Keep up the cool work!
  • End of the day: 44 resumes, several good contacts. Favorite comment of the day: "You guys were the coolest company I saw here."
