Angel Investors and Lumenlab

slot.jpgLumenlab, the makers of the sweet eVo 1.2 Home Theater Projector (list price: $499, less than some bulbs for typical projectors AND it uses standard $35 overhead projector bulbs) and the new Q42 which has been all over the gadget-blogosphere recently, posted a funny blog post entitled “SLL (Single Lonely Lumenlab) Seeking VCL (Venture Capital Lover)” over the weekend:

You may have seen me stepping out with Engadget, Gizmodo, Digg, and others. But believe baby they mean nothing to me. I’m looking for someone to stick with me for the long haul, not just a one hour stand on the home page. And I’m not just trying to get your money, lover. I want all of you, including your fine expertise in consumer electronics and sweet management instincts. Ooo-wee! Your industry contacts are looking good too. Mm-mm-mmm.

I’m not going to post something like they did, because they took my idea (not really, and after reading the comment below I removed my direct solicitation from this post altogether), but I am about to initiate RedPost’s first ever outside-of-my-pocket-fundraising round.

  • Thanks for the advice Bill--I edited the post to avoid SEC wrangling, because although I'm sure they're very nice people, I'm not interested in making their acquaintance at this point.
  • Hi Eric,

While I'm not a lawyer (and am thus not qualified to give legal advice), I've always been told never to post offers for equity sales/raises on the web. There are numerous federal and state prohibitions on soliciting investors in unregistered offerings through general solicitation or advertising, so I'd recommend you edit/remove this post before the SEC comes knocking on your door :)

    Good luck,

    Bill
