Elkhart County’s Historical Museum signs up for a makeover
I had lunch today with Nick Hoffman, the new curator of the Elkhart County Historical Museum. The museum’s at a very interesting juncture of its history — attendance has declined in recent years, energy is low, membership is down…their logo sucks (as does their website), lots of challenges like those. The Museum also has lots of strengths — a sustained revenue source (my tax dollars), a big building (also a challenge), lots of valuable artifacts in its collection, and a county with a diverse, interesting history (also a challenge).
Nick has a great vision and would like to expand the Museum and its efforts beyond the somewhat insular vision that has evolved to this point. I don’t think he fully knew what he was getting into, but it’ll be interesting to see how it evolves. Good luck Nick!
Oh, and he’s interested in advertising on RedPost/Goshen, so he gets our official endorsement as Best Curator of the Elkhart County Historical Museum.
