Carbon offsetting
Carbon offsetting is an interesting concept to me — using economic incentives to work for less pollution. I strongly believe that when all short- and long-term costs are accounted for, the capitalist system/marketplace can keep from making the one planet we have un-liveable. Carbon offsetting starts to do that.
I’m thinking about this because I just purchased $14 of carbon credits from Carbonfund.org to offset the .15 tons of CO2 we’ll generate by driving a 12 passenger van to Holland, Mich., and back tomorrow on our Herman Miller Green Building Tour.
