California blocks digital billboards, bucking the trend set by lobbyists who influenced states like Indiana to pass such legislation
I recently blogged about how Indiana passed a digital billboard law making them legal in this state. California just blocked the same kind of legislation. Or, to be specific, the legislation "…has been blocked by Senate president Don Perata (pictured at right), who six years ago helped the Oakland Coliseum erect the same type of signage."
So is Indiana ahead or behind of the curve on this one? I think the lobbyists for the digital billboard guys would say we're ahead. The lobbyists for the people against billboards would say we're behind. I'm not sure where I stand on this issue, but I don't think it really matters, because I don't have $500k to drop on a digital billboard.
