Black n’ Red

I was at Staples today because my write-everything-down notebook was full (they last me about 6 months) and I found this product line, which is a British import from John Dickinson Stanionery Limited (are all the best designed things from Europe? At least we have the iPod). It’s called Black n’ Red and is a well-designed, nifty little notebook that comes in different flavors and offers nice features like conversion tables and a world timezone map. The higher end versions have built-in calculators and the like. They have recycled paper ones as well, although I don’t think Staples carries those.

I like well-designed products. It stood out on the shelf, wasn’t more expensive than anything else, and has features I wouldn’t have thought to ask for in a regular old notebook.

From the JDSL website:

Jane Rowe, marketing director at John Dickinson comments “We felt Black n’ Red deserved a website that reflects what the brand stands for – quality, functionality, style, and innovation. The new site is easier to navigate and targeted at the kind of people likely to be looking for a quality notebook. In addition, it can serve as a valuable online resource for some of their information needs. This relaunch demonstrates our commitment to investing in the brand and will help to ensure that Black n’ Red remains the nation’s favourite notebook.”

  • It's true, Ives WAS a Brit, but we're all immigrants (well, 99% of us) in this country, so once you move here we get to claim you :-)

I swear by the ID notebooks (designed by John Dickinson), but I get them over here in the UK and I dunno if you can get them over there. The page layouts are great and I would be *totally* lost if they stopped making them (hence my bulk orders).

Oh.. the iPod, you know it was designed by a European? J. Ives is a Brit. :P
